AAU Triple Crown Classic

The AAU Triple Crown Classic took place on May 11th and 12th in Richmond, VA. I lifted on Saturday after barely making weight on Saturday morning.

I opened the squat with 370 and followed with a second rep of 410. I passed on a third rep to save energy and also because the 410 was a PR.

The bench did not go as well. While the opener at 270 went up easily, the second and third reps at 310 both stalled about 4 or 5 inches above my chest.

The opener of the deadlift at 450 wasn't a problem. The second rep at 510 felt very heavy, but was locked out after what seemed an eternity of pulling. This also was a PR, was a state record, and tied the American record for 181 lbs at master's 55-59. I passed on the third deadlift rep. The total today was 1190, which also was a state record.

Now it's time to take the summer off from heavy lifting, to learn some martial arts, and to do more bike riding.

This little girl stole the competition on Saturday, and had everyone cheering for her. One would never expect that a 10 yo, 62 lb'er would be able to handle these lifts so easily with such good form. She went 9/9 and did a triple body weight deadlift. Absolutely incredible powerlifting for a child in pigtails.
